Management of food hygiene legislation and health and safety legislation. Must meet the FSA code of practice for food lead officer.



To lead and manage the Commercial Services Team within Regulatory Services & Health to ensure the delivery and promotion of excellent service delivery to business and the general public. This work is to be completed against the backdrop of statutory requirements, the national Better Regulation Agenda and Cheshire East Council’s commitment to the provision of joined up Regulatory Services.



1 Manage resources to deliver the Commercial Service to meet service plan objectives, national targets and local priorities.


2 Maintain effective management of the Commercial Services Team through direction, supervision and motivation.


3 Work with other service managers within Public Protection and Enforcement to develop and deliver a flexible and co-ordinated approach to service delivery which prevents duplication of effort and promotes consistency of the service.


4 Identify and create opportunities for the adoption of regulatory best practice within Public Protection and Enforcement to meet the Better Regulation Agenda.


5 Identify and create opportunities for a co-ordinated approach to providing services which improve the health of the local community in conjunction with the Public Health Team of Cheshire East Council.


6 Lead and manage the Cheshire East School Services Support contract and to coordinate the activities of the officers involved with its strategic and operational delivery.


7 Provide advice and information to officers, Members, national bodies, regional groups and the general public on Commercial Service.


8 Monitor performance and provide regular reports on progress to the Principal Manager – Regulatory Services and Health.


9 Manage the Commercial Service budgets to ensure that targets for savings and income generation are met, resources are monitored and controlled and that value for money is achieved.

Proven practical application Attendance on in house training courses.Supervisory and management experience Proven experience of leading a team of professional officers. Knowledge & application of HR policies Proven practical experience and application Attendance on In house training for policies and practices.
